THE WRECKING CREW LEADSDEC 3
THE WRECKING CREW STILL LEADSDEC3
The MBAs Wrecking Crew didn’t have much time to rest during Thanksgiving. While Eddie Arnet was in Fontana to test the Santa Cruz VPP Blur at Southridge Challenge, Garnet Vertican was fighting the roadies at Urban Cyclocross Series Palos Verdes Estates. They then had to face the biggest challenges of the year. The second challenge was to make it through Black Friday without spending too much money. Garnet had it easier than Ed because he had to immediately start preparing for the State Cyclocross Championships at San Diego after eating his Turkey dinner. Ed was at the S.R.C. He was awarded the #1 Expert plate. (He was again teased with more food.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Garnet was injured in a mechanical accident at the States. Brent Prenzlow, a mountain biker, went on to win his fifth USCF California State CX title. Garnet was disappointed that he didn’t finish 8th, despite having to repair the front derailleur and being one lap down.
GREAT NEWS
It was a long journey back to Lake Arrowhead for Garnet. Eddie had good news for Garnet when he arrived. He just received Urban Cyclocross #3’s official results. Garnets third place finish the week before had placed him in the Pro Division lead. Even though he missed the Southridge race round, Eddie is still the leader in Master 40+. December 15th is the last event. It’s do or die for either of them if they want the Urban Cyclocross Series title. Keep checking back for the final coverage and Eds report from the Santa Cruz Awards and Southridge Awards. Scroll down to see the CA State Champs results and Urban Cyclocross #3 results. (Check out Emilio Cervantes, mountain bike gold medalist, and Randy Liechty the silver medalist.
